A Message from the President

April, 2019
Fellow Boating Enthusiasts,
For several years now, we have been talking to Maranatha about the area where the seawall is cracked. We’ve had meetings and tried alternative approaches. The city is also involved and trying to reach a solution. Dune grass is now growing over the top of the dune. Therefore, any work will be expensive and require a critical dune permit.
We continue to treat for aquatic weeds. We have added a second summer treatment and have added five areas to our treatment map in the past two years and would like to thank our local volunteers who have contacted their neighbors for permission signatures. The good news is that beginning next year, there will be less bureaucracy associated with permitting for weeds..
Please be aware of boating courtesy on our lake. The water is high and some boats throw very large wakes. The area by Ross Park is very open but the area West of the bridge is quite vulnerable. It is also narrow and boats cannot turn around on plane without waking the shoreline and docks, which can damage these properties. Please try to move your watersports activities to the bay by Ross Park.
Finally, you can also keep up with our news on our Facebook page, Mona Lake Improvement Association.
